Ecoware is proud to be associated with the "Low Cost Solutions to Ireland's Waste Crisis" Conference. It is exciting to watch the growing environmental awareness in Ireland for the need to aim for zero waste to landfill.
Waste: the Nappy Impact
Various figures are bandied about regarding the number of nappies a baby/toddler uses in a "nappy Lifetime": Race Against Waste claim more tha 5,000. This means that 1 baby = 5,000 nappies = 1,750 kilograms of waste!!! Backed by EU legislation, county councils are changing their waste management to include commercial and home composting systems, while actively encouraging waste reduction, as well as introducing charges for waste. Switching to compostable/flucshable products will have significant environemental benefits, will address the hygiene "loophole" that results in faecal waste going to landfill through plastic "disposable" nappies, while reducing the waste charges individuals will have to pay.
The Alternative: a Flushable and Compostable nappy system.
The Weenees fully flushable and compostable disposable pads for babies, children and adults were developed in Australia over 13 years ago, and are exclusively distributed in Ireland by Ecoware Ltd. The pads are used with a reuseable, washable outer.
Our Weenees pads are unique in that they are the only disposable nappy/pad in the world that is 100% compostable in one compost cycle resulting in a useful soil conditioner for the garden. This can be simply done through home composting, worm farms, soil burial or through commercial composting facilities. We have also overcome any hygiene concerns with soiled nappies, since ours are fully flushable.
Like smoking and plastic bags, the time is coming when sending (conventional)disposable nappies to landfill will no longer be socially accepatble. Through the use of our products, customers can help achieve zero waste to landfill.

I would like to pass on my gratitude for the great Weenees outers you make.
I am now using them for my fourth child who is just 4 months old. I also used them for my previous two children. I use them with a folded cloth nappy and despite the initial outlay I estimate that I save $800 to $1000 a year by not using the more common disposable. I was also delighted to find the improvement of an extra inner since my last child (over 3 years ago).
It is great to know I am helping the environment, keeping our rubbish to a minimum and saving money, which is especially important to those of us on one income. If it wasn't for Weenees I may not have carried on with cloth nappies as I was not keen on using pins. Also the swimmers are great too and give extra security in case of accidents.
So thank you very much and you be assured I am singing your praises with my friends who are mothers. (I have found they are not that commonly known about in my circle of friends).

Thanks a lot - I have been showing your product to some of my colleqgues at Wheelchair Basketball. From a personal point of view, I am a T6 complete Paraplegic, who plays a lot of sport. Due to the exertion of pushing a chair as well as leaning forward or backwards, I, like many other wheelchair athletes, "leak" a little. This is especially the case when I play Wheelchair Basketball, as I also wear a tight abdominal strap for stability, which pushes on the bladder.
Anyway what I am trying to say is thanks for your product which saves a lot of embarrassment.

I am really happy with your pants (which I generally use with cloth nappies), and I also add a pad at night. The extra absorbency is fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing how the vegies grow next year (the wet pads are buried in the vegie patch and in the garden), and the bugs and beetles seem to like the poo pads which are buried in a hole. The extra effort is so worthwhile - knowing that I'm doing my bit for the environment.
